Our client is a medium to large size insurance company who is very well respected within both Lloyd's and company markets. They are looking for someone to join their successful unit to continue smooth operations, it is important that person will be able to hit the ground running and cover maternity leave with out any compromise of service.

Purpose of the Job:

To take responsibility for the daily processing and management of a defined outwards reinsurance processing and recoveries workload

* Carry out the operational & technical outwards reinsurance process within the outwards reinsurance team in line with guidelines and policies.
* Take ownership for a defined workload, carrying out and applying best practice processes to control and improve the operational processing and technical processes for the outwards reinsurance book.
* Produce outwards reinsurance information for business planning and strategic purposes and relating to the operational element of the processing and recovery process.
* Produce reinsurance resumes
* Calculate and process reinsurance premiums, advises, adjustments, brokerage and collections.
* Assist Outwards Reinsurance Manager to produce reports and provide relevant information for operational processing for the Companies Committee's and Board.
* Central point of contact for all internal and external queries regarding the operational processing and recovery process.
* Resolve old and unanswered queries, preventing delays in Credit Control and collection of monies.
* Participation in team projects on an ad hoc basis.
* Liaison with the placement team to record the reinsurance programmes onto core systems.

Decision Making Responsibilities:

* Making decisions on a day to day basis in respect of individual workload.
* Provide workable solutions or make recommendations, which will resolve and promote barriers to the overall purpose of the role.
* Identifying events which will have an impact on financial results and escalating them to the Outwards Reinsurance Manager for authorisation

Education, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

* Good overall standard of education
* Knowledge of Lloyds of London processes.
* Solid experience in reinsurance, ideally gained from working in an outwards reinsurance department. Experience in working within the London Market/Lloyds of London Syndicate, ideally gained in an insurance company/ syndicate.
* Knowledge of Marine, Aviation, and Non Marine, both proportional and non-proportional.
* Good IT skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
* Experience in working with Elgar Xchanging & Eclipse systems is highly desirable.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise at all levels.
* Attention to detail, good organisational and multi-tasking skills.
* Ability to work with minimum supervision and on own initiative.
* Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
* Enthusiastic and keen to learn.
* The ability to work well as part of a team.
